Lipu Nazionale

The name L.I.P.U. stands for “Lega Italiana Protezione Uccelli” which literary means “Italian League for the Birds Protection”. It has been founded in 1965 with the aim to preserve nature, starting by protecting birds and promoting the respect for the planet especially among youth.

In 1975 the Lipu created in Parma the first Italian wildlife hospital, “Centro Recupero Rapaci”, and in 1979, in Crava Morozzo (near Cuneo), it has been created the first Lipu nature reserve.

Nowadays the Lipu has several wildlife hospitals, 30 nature reserves and 100 local sections located in almost every Italian town. The association is supported by more than 30.000 donators, and by nearly 600 volunteers.
